I am interested in relations between states and markets that affect the usage of human bodies. Specifically, my project concentrates on how Chinese professional athletes navigate their labor and interests when the state has recently delegated substantial discretionary power to non-state actors to govern sports organizations. Based on participant observations and interviews with athletes, coaches, sports bureaucrats and club managers, I hope my project would provide a better understanding of labor and occupation during the post-socialist period.
