CV

My research explores grassroots mechanisms of post-revolutionary institution-building and the militaries’ role in the process. Based on archival work and interviews conducted in Iran, in my dissertation I study the origins of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. I adopt an interpretive approach by addressing interpersonal dynamics among revolutionaries that underlie the state-building endeavor, thereby adding a bottom-up perspective to existing theories of revolutionary state-building.Master's Title
