CV I am a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of Chicago. Generally speaking, my research is motivated by solving interesting puzzles, and in doing so, contributing to sociological theory. My dissertation is on the relationship between theory and praxis in medical work. I have also done research on linguistic properties of email interaction among scientists and the relation between organizational prestige and esteem judgments among physicians. I use multiple methods because different problems require it. Data collected for my dissertation project are primarily ethnographic, although I also draw on social network data on referral patterns, and examine quantitative data on the international diffusion of robotic technologies.
